Melilla is a city in Spain that is located on the northern coast of Morocco. It has an area of around twelve square kilometers. Jalon valley is one of the blessed parts of Spain when it comes to the natural beauty. Gran Via

Gran Via is a street in the Spanish capital city of Madrid. It is a very lively street and for the same reasons it is one of the best places of shopping on earth. Then, the month of May brings on Feria del Ganado which is celebrated for 10 days. There are numerous folklore performances by various local folklore groups. The end of July brings on the Festival of Apostles which takes place in front of the cathedral where delightful fireworks are displayed during the night. This is followed by a solemn mass the next day with a large incense font fixed onto the cathedral’s ceiling via a rope so that it is free to swing through the cathedral nave. 

August and September months hold the Festival of Classical music which showcases many musical performances such as concerts and singing.

History

Madrid has a very colorful and exciting history. One of the more outstanding historical events happened when the Moors came in 852A.D. and conquered Madrid. The Christian forces finally conquered Madrid two centuries later with Philip II moving to Madrid and building it up as a capital in 1561. From then, Madrid’s population reached 150,000 in one century from a previous 20,000. Madrid continued to function proactively even when Spain had bad economic times.There are many early dynasties’ remnants such as the 1630 City Hall, the 2-century Plaza Mayor and the 1764 Royal Palace which was built over a Moorish fortress that was burned down in 1734.

Modern Madrid

Today, Madrid stands majestically as an internationally renowned city with the old and new in harmonic blend.
